Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana
is a social welfare scheme launched by the Government of India

which was launched by the Prime Minister of India on 1st May 2016 in Ballia Village, UP. When this scheme was started, a target was set to provide LPG connections to 5 crore BPL women.

Out of which 1.5 crore LPG connections have already been given till 31st March 2017 and the target of providing remaining connections will be completed soon. This is like a boon for the poor women of India because the poor woman who is wasting her time and health by cooking on the stove in her kitchen is being linked to this scheme and given a gas connection.

With this scheme, about 1 lakh people will get employment in 3 years and a business opportunity of 10000 crores will be developed. This scheme is also working to boost Make in India.

Implementation of the plan:-

The scheme will be implemented by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. This is the first time in history that the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas is implementing such a massive welfare scheme that will benefit women belonging to crores of the poorest families in the country. The scheme will be completed in three years, i.e., financial years 2016-17, 2017-18, and 2018-19.
