Aadhaar card has become an important document required for citizens to avail benefits under various state sponsored schemes. Various government and private authorities also require the card to provide their services including KYC. A very frequently asked question is whether a Non Resident Indian (NNR) can apply for Aadhaar card or not.
As per the UIDAI Aadhaar FAQ, the response is yes. A NRI (whether minor or grown-up) with a legitimate Indian identification can apply for Aadhaar from any Aadhaar focus.

The process is:
Visit your nearest Aadhaar center or raise an inquiry at your convenience
You must have a valid Indian passport with you
Fill details in enrollment form
It is required for NRI to give email id
The announcement of NRI enrollment is slightly different. Read and sign your enrollment form
Request that the administrator enlist you as NRI
Provide your passport as proof of identity
Complete the biometric capture process
Operator should check all the details (English and local language) on the screen before allowing to submit
Get the Affirmation Slip/Enlistment Slip with your 14 digit Enlistment ID and Date and Time Stamp.
Once you are enrolled, you can check your Aadhaar status from here: https://resident.uidai.gov.in/check-aadhaar. UIDAI says that you can use your passport as proof of address and date of birth or provide some other valid document for the same. However, if your address in the passport has been updated with a new one, you will need to provide the updated Indian address along with valid Proof of Address (POA) according to the rundown of reports satisfactory by UIDAI.
